When I moved to New York from Japan in 2001, the first thing I was attracted to was the light and contrast.

Because of its strong sunlight and dry air, the colors caught in the eye are intense, especially the reflections that exist everywhere in the city.

Those reflections were just like paintings, formed by the three layers — “stuff behind the glass,” “glass itself,” and “the reflections”, and it became my routines to cut those paintings out of my daily life.
